Think Outside the Black and Try Patterned Leggings On for Size

Black is classic. It’s a staple go-to and something every woman needs to have in her closet.

However, it seems that sometimes we get boxed into thinking of nothing else….especially when it comes to leggings.

Think outside the black and try something new with patterned leggings.

Shopping Local on a Whole Other Level - Highly Recommending Raleigh's Uptown Cheapskate

You've heard of shopping local but let’s take it to another level and shop the local’s closets. Uptown Cheapskate first opened its fabulous doors in 2009 and shopping has never been the same. The concept is consignment but this is far from hand-me-downs.

The items shown are ones that are similar or the same as ones which I have personally purchased from the store, to give you an idea of what the type of items you'll come across.

The selection consists of clothes that look like they recently came off the retail rack and are a mixture of classic and daring items to complete your closet.  Thumbing through their well-organized assortments, you will likely come across high end brand names like Coach, Vera Wang, Michael Kors and more. Although the names may awe you- the sticker shock will take you back even more when you realize you can get these treasured garments for well under the triple digits. I've personally purchased a Vera Wang shirt for less than $20 and continued to stock up on shoes, purses and accessories without breaking $100 bucks.

Here’s some tips to make the most of your trip...

Winter Hair Don't Care!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful- no really it’s scary out there, and cold, and dark….In addition to ruining plans, skin and diets- the weather can also wreak havoc on your hair. That's why I've teamed up with three products to combat the cold and keep things simple while everything else, such as staying warm and driving, have become so very hard.

Stitch Fix #5 Review

My on again off again relationship with the subscription box, Stitch Fix, is back to being on the fritz.

If you didn't get a chance to read my last review, here’s a recap:

The first fix lead me on- there were a couple cute items and then a few that made me raise an eyebrow, however the company suggests waiting until the third box, when the stylist takes your feedback and really gets to know more of your style. I was highly disappointed when the third box came and appeared to be the worst one yet. So our relationship went on hiatus until I began beauty blogging and thought it was time to give this another try.  My fourth box ( the one prior to this one) was fabulous-  I kept every single item and began advocating  for the company.

That’s when I put my money where my mouth was and signed up for box #5.

How to utilize what you already have in your closet to create a fresh new look!

What’s in Your Closet?

If I asked for a show of hands for this question- I would have to pause from typing and raise my own. How many times do you find yourself saying I don't know what to wear? You are standing there looking at a top and then at a bottom, but not knowing what to wear either with—and you’re sure as hell not going to wear them together.

Now buyer’s remorse kicks in and you begin kicking yourself ( hopefully metaphorically) for continuing to purchase items separately instead of as an entire outfit. But isn't’ this the fun of fashion- collecting pieces at a steal here and there to then mix and match and make your own? Don’t be so hard on yourself and read on for some simple suggestions on....
